Has anyone tried the Switched on Homeschool curriculum?

I am debating between that or Life-pac. Switched-on seems good because it automatically keeps up with lesson plans and grades. But is it all on the computer? Shouldn’t they have to write somethings down? Life-pac is workbooks, where they write things down. But it seems more complicated. What do you use? What have you tried? Have you used either one of these? My kids are 9,11,13 and boys.

What are some tips/curriculums for a homeschooled middle school child with ADHD… details?

Right now he hates doing schoolwork and isn’t learning well. He is very behind grade level. I know he is smart but I don’t know how to bring it out. He won’t independently read textbooks but likes regular books as long as they keep his interest. He hates handwriting but it is legible if he doesn’t hurry. He has low comprehension and gets frustrated and overwhelmed easily. We are on a budget so I need ideas that won’t break the bank. Thank you

The Wisdom of Taking Online High School Courses

All sorts of diplomas and certificates can be received over the Internet now. A high school diploma is one of them. But before you can get such a diploma, you need to take online high school courses.

But this is a concept that slides by many of us. If you can easily get a secondary education, why bother to take online high school courses? You can just go to the nearest campus and work hard for four years, like regular students!

However, it’s just not as simple for some of us. Some of us, for example, opt to

Can you tell me more about the TRISMS homeschool curriculum?

I had never heard of TRISMS until reading ketchupklf’s recommendations.

We are using History Odyssey now (level 2 middle ages). TRIMS looks like it is laid out better and that it might be easier to check their progress.

What do you think about homeschooling for high school?

I am trying to figure out if I should go to high school or do home school. I haven’t liked high school and for my 10th grade year I don’t know what to do. I feel like I will be missing out on a lot high school experiences. It would be really helpful if someone could list some ups and downs of home school. Thanks!

Home School Myths: No Socialization” Myth of Homeschooling

One of the greatest myths that exist about the homeschooling phenomenon is that children who learn at home will not develop the necessary social skills needed for later in life. This belief is due to a narrow view of the process of socialization and a misunderstanding of homeschooling in general.

Socialization can occur in many forms. Sitting in a public school classroom with 20 other children is one limited form. In fact, homeschoolers have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of social situations that a typical school setting would not allow. Homeschoolers who have siblings have

5 Tips for Homeschooling Your Child

Homeschooling is defined as providing a child’s main education at home. Although this topic has been one of great debate by both critics and supporters, families continue to choose the option of educating their child in the comfort and privacy of their own home. If you are considering this method of learning, keep the following tips in mind:

Consider various teaching options. As a parent, you can often homeschool your child on your own or you may enlist the help of a professional tutor, which is a private teacher who typically teaches one child or a small group of children.
