Need Advice on Homeschooling….?
Apr 12th
Question by jilland4kids: Need Advice on Homeschooling….? My kids have always been in Catholic School — which I LOVE. There are no concerns/problems with their school and I planned to volunteer in the 3rd grade and a Kindergarten classes. Then, it hit me — I’ll homeschool the kids with a Catholic curriculum. I have very mixed feelings. Academically/socially the kids will do great. We’ll do extracurricular activities and meet other homeschoolers. However, my daughter will make her First Communion & Confirmation this year, and I would like her to be instructed with her friends. She also wants to join choir. For More >

Question by Busy Barbie 007: How much socialization does a homeschooled child need? Around kids their own age.. To clarify, the question is not whether a child NEEDS socialization or not, but HOW MUCH Activities/play dates daily? 3 times a week, twice a week? Well..she does do her work while at work with me, in an office of 50+ people with which she has regular interactions with…does that count for anything?

Homeschool Curriculum Packages – Do You Need Them?
Nov 19th
Finding the right homeschool curriculum package for your child can be daunting, especially if you are new to homeschooling. You may mistakenly believe that just because private and public schools use a formal curriculum, you should also do the same for your homeschooled child.
Families who are new to homeschooling often start by using a complete curriculum package. If you do this, you will quickly find out that the workload or structure can be overwhelming. To avoid burnout, you will have to experiment with different teaching methods and find out which method is best suited to your child’s learning style. Keep More >
High School Homeschooling — What Do I Need?
Nov 7th
I’m going to go pick up school supplies today, and so far have this list:
1. 8 2″ Binders
2. Pencil Sharpener
3. Pens
Can anyone help me with a school supply list? I’ve seen the standard high school school supply lists and such but I am a sophomore that’s *homeschooling* so I won’t need the same things as a b&m high school student would. . . Or do I?
I’m new to all this but just need to know what I’m gonna need for this school year. . . Thanks!

Are you Thinking About Homeschooling? Here’s What you Need to Know
Sep 29th
In today’s fast-paced, understaffed and sometimes dangerous public school environments, it is a heavy burden for parents to decide where to send their child to be educated. Socialization has such a large impact on children, and the wrong environment can set them up for a life of problems: Not to mention worrying about whether your child will be given the attention and direction they crave. It is for this reason so many parents are deciding Homeschooling is the best option.
Every family provides a certain amount of homeschooling, teaching children many life lessons and educating in different areas. Choosing to homeschool More >
Need help in choosing homeschool curriculum?
Sep 20th
I am interested in both the K12 curriculum and the Calvert School curriculum. So far, I am leaning towards the Calvert curriculum, mainly because they have a great catalog which clearly displays what you get for each grade level. Anyone have any thoughts about these two? I am wanting to start out with a curriculum like one of these to make it easier and more organized for me. I may switch things up later as my daughter gets older and I get more comfortable.

Right now i’m using some of the Alpha Omega booklets, not really a fan. I was SUPPOSED to take the last 3 classes at my community college, but i’m too late for the registration :/ All i have left to take is Government, Economics and English.
Anyone know of a legitimate curriculum I can use that isn’t too expensive? ALSO! I’m trying to get all my credits done by the end of summer so i don’t need a full years worrth of work.
I need an alternative to the higher maths for my homeschooled high school child.?
Aug 31st
My 14-year old son is on the verge of completing his freshman year of homeschooling. We are studying algebra this year, but I find that most of it is useless unless a person plans on becoming a rocket scientist or math teacher! What alternatives are there in this field besicdes geometry, calculus and the higher maths. My son has no intention of going to college and I need to find a math that is practical in everyday life. Any suggestions?
